Sony hat aktuell wie erwartet zwei neue Android Smartphones vorgestellt. Die neuen Geräte hören auf den Namen Xperia SP sowie Xperia L und werden von Sony als Mittelklasse bzw. Einsteigergeräte vermarktet. Das Xperia L besitzt ein 4,3 Zoll großes Display, das Display des Xperia SP ist mit 4,6 Zoll etwas größer ausgefallen. Wie bereits durch die Gerüchteküche bekannt, erhält das Xperia SP ein 5,6 Zoll Display das mit einer Auflösung von 720p arbeitet. Das Gehäuse erinnert an das Design des Xperia Z das auch aus Aluminium und Glas gefertigt wurde. Als CPU kommt ein Snapdragon S4 Chip mit 1,7 GHz Taktung zum Einsatz. Das Gerät wird zusätzlich Support für 4G / LTE Netzwerke bieten.
Mit dem Xperia L zielt Sony direkt auf den Markt der Einsteiger-Smartphones ab. Das verbaute 4,3 Zoll Display bietet eine Auflösung von 854×480 Pixel. Als CPU kommt ein Snapdragon S4 Plus Dual-Core Prozessor mit 1GHz zum Einsatz. Besonders interessant hierbei ist die 8 Megapixel Exmor RS Kamera die für gute Bildaufnahmen sorgen sollte.
Beide Geräte setzen auf Android 4.1 Jelly Bean und sollen noch im zweiten Quartal des aktuellen Jahres im Handel erhältlich sein. Farblich sollen die Geräte in rot, weiß sowie schwarz angeboten werden.
